Tablets and Teaching

When I was observing my teacher during the observational period, he was modeling for me how to teaching looked like using a tablet. I thought it was really cool how he was using the tablet to teach. Granted it was really expensive, he told me that Oceanside High School gave him one LCD projector and one screen. He bought another smart board screen and another LCD projector to set up in his class. He has positioned the two screens so that one is in the corner and the other is positioned at the center in the front of the room. He has all his lessons written out on a document and everything is saved digitally on his tablet. He can go back to those lessons every year, helping him save time.

I have started using the tablet in my own teaching and it has been amazing. Students seem more engaged and all the examples can be done by students. My students are always asking me if they can write their work on the tablet. The cool thing is that whatever is written on the tablet, shows up on the screen in real time so that the rest of the class can see how the problem is done. Students are more engaged I feel and I believe that they are learning more.
